What causes dry skin?
The skin naturally produces its own oil called sebum. Sebum helps protect the skin by reducing moisture loss,  but everyday activities and wrong skin care products can deprive the skin of its own oil, leaving you with a dry, flaky and itchy skin.

Habits and conditions that promotes skin dryness

Long Hot showers
Long showers and hot showers can dry up your skin. It is best to keep your showers short, and if you want to take a hot shower make sure it is warm and not too frequent, there is really no point making your dry skin drier.

Hard scrubbing with sponge and towel
A lot of people take pride in the way they scrub their skin to remove dirt while having their bath but this causes more harm than good. The skin naturally protects itself by producing natural oils, hard scrubbing with sponge or a towel will deprive the skin of its oil and make your skin quite dry. Go easy on your skin when bathing and also remember to tap dry when towelling instead of scrubbing.

Harsh soaps
Highly scented soaps, anti-bacterial and deodorants soaps have been known to be quite harsh on a dry skin because they wash off the natural skin oils and strip moisture from your skin making your dry skin even drier. Mild soaps such as dove soapless cleanser and aveeno cleanser any other mild soap would be best for a dry skin.

Weather condition
It is normal for every skin to feel dry during the winter as temperature and humidity drops. Hamathan has no love for people with dry skin like mine, it basically turns us into WHITE WALKERs and leaves our wrist looking like that of a wicked old witch.

Wrong skin care products
There are millions of skin care products in the market and more are coming in as i type this,  but not  all products is made for the dry skin.  If you already have a dry skin,  you should go for products with moisturizing properties and stick to them. The use of the wrong lotions might make matters worse.

Aging and Heredity 
I believe I don’t need to say much about this one.

To repair your dry skins to cope with any weather try; 

Olive oil
Olive oil has many uses and one of it is to repair dry skin by acting as a cleanser and moisturizer.  It contains many antioxidants and healthy fatty acids which are good for dry skin. By using olive oil on your dry skin, you will notice a tremendous increase in the smoothness and softness of your skin.

  • 30 minutes before taking a shower apply olive oil all over the skin or just the area of dry skin which most of the time are the lower legs, wrist and outer thighs then massage the oil gently.




Coconut oil
Another oil with moisturizing effects is the coconut oil; it smells great and has soothing effect. Adding this oil to your skin care products will do a lot of good if you have a dry skin or any skin type at all.

  • Dab on affected areas or all over the body as you wish, its amazing smell will make you want to leave it on your skin for a long time.
  • You can also mix it with your moisturizing lotion and enjoy the best of both worlds.





Honey
Honey is my personal moisturizer and is considered one of the best natural moisturizer by skin care experts.  Even though it has antioxidants and antimicrobial properties, it is its humectant properties that help the dry skin lock in moisture. Your skin should feel really soft and supple after using honey.

  • Massage honey gently into your entire body or the area of dryness, allow it to sit for a while and then wash off.
  • Do this every day to repair your dry skin. After which you can focus on your moisturizing lotion.




Milk
Lactic acid present in milk helps exfoliate dead skin and help increase the skin’s ability retain moisture. You will also benefit from its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Take a washcloth and soak it in milk
  • Put the soaked wash cloth on the affected area for a minimum of 7 minutes
  • Gently wash off and then tap dry.

Avocado paste, Caster oil, lavender oil and Aloe Vera gel are also very good for dry skin and should be tried.

MOISTURIZERS (LOTION) RECOMMENDED BY FITTIGHT
There are numerous moisturizing lotions that are good for dry skin but I will recommend a few based on availability in the Nigerian market, affordable price and their tested moisturizing effect.

This is my favourite moisturizing lotion. Avon skin so soft contains skin-softening nourishers and argan oil mixed with delicate floral scent. No matter how dry a skin is, skin so soft will do wonders.

TOP SIMPLE EXERCISES THAT WILL GIVE YOU A BIGGER BUTT

Let’s admit it; women want butts that will turn heads, look tight and appealing . No one, even men wants a drooping butt that looks like its hibernating. For women, it is to have butts that are very attractive anytime anyday and can stand its ground with or without clothes.  Lol
While some opt to achieve this through the back door (surgery), healthy eating habits and exercise will help you achieve goals naturally. Though there are many butt exercises, We have put together some of the top simple exercises from around the world. These simple exercises can be done with or without fitness equipments, follow these exercises and see changes. Now! Let's work it out.


SQUATS
The mother of all butt exercises is the squat. Though it has many modifications and ways to do it, it is the simplest way to get your glutes and thighs pumping.


Steps to perform squats exercise
stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
⚫stretch your hands in front of you or place behind your head.
⚫lower yourself by bending the knee as if you preparing to sit down
⚫while bending, aim at getting your thighs parallel to the floor
⚫Then return to standing position.
⚫ Do this for at least 10 times as you get a used to it, you should do more counts.

TIPS
You can add a dumbbell or a kettle bell to give more resistance and get a bigger butt faster.

 

BRIDGE UP
Interestingly! This exercise is also good for those with back injury while simultaneously working your glutes. It targets your lower back and buttocks and the legs.

Step to perform the bridge up exercise
⚫Lie on your back with your knees bent and facing the ceiling
⚫Your feet shoulder-width apart.
⚫Raise your hips off the floor to create a straight line from your knees to your shoulders.
⚫As you reach the top, tighten your abdominals and buttocks.
⚫Then slowly lower your hip to the floor.

TIPS
⚫You can place a kettle bell on your hip to add  more resistance.
⚫Do this about ten times.



LUNGES
This exercise targets the legs and the butt


Steps to perform lunges exercise :
⚫Stand straight with your feet together.
⚫Take a step forward with your right leg.
⚫ Slowly bend your knees until your thighs are almost parallel to the floor, making sure your left knee doesn’t touch the ground.
⚫then push yourself back to the standing position.



ONE LEG KICKBACK
This is a glute buster exercise. It targets the lower back and the buttocks.

Step to perform the one leg kick back
Go on your knees and hands
Making sure your hands are directly under your shoulders and your knees directly under your hip
⚫Raise your right leg while still bent at angle 90
⚫At the peak, squeeze your buttocks
⚫Do not arch your back as you raise your legs.
⚫After doing this 10times, switch to the left leg.

Performing these exercises as shown anove will lead to a significant increase in the size and firmness of your behind.  As the festive season draws near, you will flaunt your latest behind and break necks. Lol

IMPROVE YOUR VAGINA HEALTH WITH THESE FOODS.

Most women struggle with one form of vagina problem or the other, from unpleasant odours to irritations, itching, pains and abnormal discharges which are caused by bacteria. This is because women don’t really pay attention to quality vagina health information unless there is a problem.  Most of the time, Women turn to regular douching (direct a spray of water into bodily cavity for cleaning), using of harsh soaps and even scrubbing the vagina to eliminate infections and foul smell, All these will cause more harm than good. The vagina takes care and cleans itself naturally; all you need to do is to follow healthy lifestyles that will help the vagina achieve this goal.
There are numerous ways to have and keep a clean and healthy vagina, but today, I will be concentrating on foods that can help you get an odourless and infection free vagina.

GARLIC
Lots of women no one use ear hear garlic, but garlic is very good for the vagina. Garlic is known for its antimicrobial and antifungal properties, which in regards to vaginal health is very helpful. It effectively kills yeasts (candida) infection and soothes the symptoms of the infection, which include itchiness and soreness.
Allicin is the effective ingredient in garlic_ though allicin gives the garlic its offensive smell, it helps in fighting off yeast infections. If you do have the infection already, garlic also helps ease the symptoms.

YOGHURT/PROBIOTICS
Body friendly bacteria are called probiotics.  The best source of probiotics readily available in Nigeria is natural yoghurt. Taking in probiotics plays an important role in balancing the vaginal slightly acidic pH, and also warding off yeast infections and Gardnerella bacteria. Acidophilis is the probiotics present in yoghurt and other fermented milk products, referred to as a good bacteria, it keeps the vagina and the entire gut healthy. So taking in natural yoghurt will go a long way in keeping bad bacteria away from the vagina.

CRANBERRY
Known for its acidic nature and ability to acidify the urine and also keep bacteria off the urinary tract. Cranberry is quite good at promoting good vagina health. The acid compounds present in cranberries are not broken down during digestion. So they travel from the digestive tract to the urinary tract in the same state. The compounds help to balance the pH level of the vagina, this ward off bacteria that cause UTIs (urinary tract infections). Unfortunately cranberry juices present in stores are filled with sugar which is not good for the vagina health as yeast infection and sugar go hand in hand.  Getting fresh cranberries is the best option.

NUTS AND FRUITS
Citrus fruits like oranges, limes, grapes are the focus fruits when it comes to improving the vagina health because they are a good source of vitamin c. vitamin C helps to strengthen the immune system and inhibit the growth of harmful and unwanted bacteria thus making you less susceptible to bacteria that cause foul vagina odour. 
A lot of women have agreed that pineapples make the vagina taste and smell nice and it is gradually becoming a fact. It wouldn’t hurt if you try it yourself.
Nuts on the other hand, contain high levels of vitamin E which helps in preventing vagina dryness.

WATER
The mucous membrane needs to be well hydrated for it to function effectively. Taking the right amount of water a day (8 glasses) acts as a natural lubrication and help flush out offensive odour and leaving your honey pot health.


Excessive red meat, coffee, asparagus, alcohol and even broccoli consumption can change the vagina natural odour and give it a slightly stronger smell. Cutting down a little on these foods can keep the vagina smelling fresh.

HOW TO GET A SMOOTH AND FLAWLESS SKIN

Taking good care of the largest organ of the body can be quite difficult and expensive. But the most annoying part is the fact that they are billions of beauty products that promise to give a smooth and flawless skin, in which most are expensive, contains harsh products and actually obtaining the exact product that soothes your skin can be really hard.
But the good news is you can that smooth, silky and glowing skin you’ve always wanted with some readily available natural products.
Though there are more natural products that can be used and are been used, these are the common and readily available ones.
Here are some easy but highly effective ways to make your skin flawless.

HONEY
If you want to have a flawless skin then honey should be amongst your skin care products from acne treatment to exfoliation and moisturizing, honey has over the years proven itself.
Honey is loaded with antioxidants, enzymes; antibacterial and anti-inflammatory compounds making it a perfect product to apply on your skin especially the face.

HOW TO USE: Apply pure honey on your face and neck and leave it for about fifteen minutes. Then rinse this off in cold water. This will keep your skin really soft, silky and having that glow you’ve always wanted. To get the best result, apply raw honey on your face at least five times a week. After 3weeks you will start seeing tremendous results.


PAPAYA {PAWPAW}
Pawpaw also works wonders on the skin, it can be used for Skin firming, it has anti-aging properties, used in the removal of blemishes, dark spots and dead skin and hydration of the skin. Papaya has an enzyme called papain that helps in removing dead skin to make your skin smooth and glowing. Also its ‘Low Sodium Quantity’ keeps your skin hydrated.

HOW TO USE: Blend ripe pawpaw to make a fine paste. Then apply to face for about fifteen minutes. Wash it off thoroughly afterwards with water and pat dry to get the best result. You can also mix papaya and honey for a wonderful result.

NOTE: Application of this paste should be done once or twice a week, due to the fact that pawpaw contains AHA {alpha-hydroxyl acids} which is quite too strong for the skin for everyday us.


LEMON
Possessing astringent properties, lemon is a great natural cleanser for people who have oily skin. It is also contains vitamin c and citric acid which helps in brightening and lightening the skin after a period of time. if your elbows and knees appear dark, using lemon to scrub them will make them lighter.

HOW TO USE: To reduce oily face, use fresh squeezed lemon juice and apply it to your entire face and neck. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.
To lighten dark knees and elbows, cut lemon into half and scrub the elbow and knees with it. It works like magic.

NOTE: we wouldn’t recommend regular usage of lemon for people with dry skin because it will make the skin drier overtime. So if you have a dry skin, you should use lemon carefully.
Lemon juice also has stinging sensation due to the citric acid presence. If you can’t tolerate the stinging sensation, mix the lemon juice with some water and continue adding until it feels better on your skin.


TOMATOES
Tomatoes provide amazing natural skin treatment which can make the skin look younger. By allowing the skin take in more oxygen it prevents aging and wrinkles. Tomatoes works magic in removing blackheads and with high levels of lycopene, it reduces the risk of getting skin cancer. Using tomatoes on your skin will give it and extraordinary glow. Tomatoes can also help treat pimples and blemishes.

HOW TO USE:Slice a fresh juicy tomato into two, use one half to scrub your face and neck. Leave for ten minutes for it to soak in and clean the pores then wash off.
You can also blend the tomatoes to make a paste and apply to your face.



 WATER
One of the most important things you can do for smooth and glowing skin is to drink enough water. Though a lot of people disagree with this truth claiming there is no scientific proof, I realized they had one skin product to sell afterwards…….LOL
Research backing why water intake is good for a healthy skin is rare, because water cannot be patented (documentation granting an inventor sole rights to an invention). So finding someone to fund such research is hard when there will be no medication or cosmetics to sell to repay cost of research.
Without adequate water intake, skin appears duller and develops wrinkles. Trying to retain the little water present, the skin becomes dry and flaky.
But a hydrated skin is plump and elastic, leaving no room for cracks and external particles to get into the skin and cause irritation or blemishes.

HOW TO USE:About 2.0 litres (8 glasses) of water should be enough for a normal day. But if the day has more rigorous activities more water should be taken.
Whatever you do, just stay hydrated it has numerous benefits.

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER DIET





Dieting slows down your normal body metabolism, so you can survive on very little food. When the body starts getting little food, it lowers metabolism and begins to store fat so it can survive on it.  When you eventually start eating normally, lowered metabolism and the sudden increase in food will take you back to where you are coming from, and it may be worse.

Dieting will lead to weight loss no doubt but it will also lead to loss of body tissue, making you look really flabby. A healthy body should look tight and firm.

Lowered metabolism leads to a sluggish digestive system and will start functioning poorly. Due to the fact that the body is trying to retain all it can, elimination of waste and toxin in the digestive tract is lowered. This will wreak havoc on your digestive system and body in general.

Dieting prevents you from getting the recommended vitamins and minerals a healthy body needs to function. And when it is not getting enough, a lot will go wrong. Dieting leads to weakness, lack of co-ordination, dizziness, thinning of the hair, loss of muscle tissue and strength, slowed heart rate. I can go on and on.

The body needs the energy from food. When dieting, you won’t be able to get enough fuel to power your body and mind through your busy and hectic day.

Dieting directly affects your mind. People on diet have a lessened mental energy, little or no ability to concentrate, express anger and frustration and have reduced reaction time. Dieting is also linked to increased rate of depression.

NO SOLID WORKOUT PLAN

Starting work out without a workout plan is like a jjc in Borno, driving without a map; You will definitely get somewhere but the place you arrive may not have anything to do with the place you actually wanted to be.
To build muscle, you need a solid workout plan. A workout plan gives you a sense of direction and also makes things a whole easier .  Instead of your head bouncing about on what activities to do; a solid workout plan shows you what to do, when to do it and how to do it. This way, you know where you were then, where you are now and where you want to be. Simple!

A solid workout plan also eliminates the ‘I will do it tomorrow syndrome’ .

NOT GETTING ENOUGH FOOD
  If you are not getting enough calories, you won’t get bigger. If you not getting  bigger, you definitely aren’t getting enough calories.
To build muscle mass, you have to be taking in more than you consume and also concentrate on food/diet that will help you become bigger and fuller. So if you are the tea/coffee in the morning, sausage rolls in the afternoon and noodles at night person, oga/madam, Just negodu!

If you begin workout without appropriate muscle building diet, at beginners stage you will see some progress. but after a very short while, Your  tiny muscles would have reached its limits and your body would have adapted to stimuli.  Your progress will diminish if you aren’t fueling it with the much needed calories. so; taking nutrient rich food is very important.

UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS

 

This is a common mistake made by people that want to build and even people that want to lose weight. People have totally unrealistic expectations when it comes to shaping their body the way they want. Thanks to marketing that tells you ‘ lose 30 pounds in 30 days’ or 'Gain 30 pounds in 7days’ shuuuuuu!    If you a marketer and you are reading this, please fear God.

These ads are only to sell their drugs or products. The only way anyone will lose 30 pounds in a day is only if you put yourself in a big pot of oil and deep fry the fat. Getting the shape you desire  is not a short time goal it is a lifestyle.  After achieving your fitness goals, would you then go back to your former lifestyle and lose all what you’ve gained?. Think about it!
Whether you want to build or lose weight, whatever your fitness goals are. Always remember it is not a short time goal and you wont get the results you desire in days or weeks, even the shape you are trying to get rid of, you did not get it within days or weeks neither. fitness is a lifestyle.



NO RECOVERY TIME
Sleep is an integral part of building muscles. If your focus is getting bigger and stronger then you have to respect your sleep hours. After a workout, there are micro wears and tears of the muscle. Sleep helps your body rebuild and recover.

Lets go deeper
Your sleep is divided into non-REM and REM phases. High levels of HGH (human growth hormone) are secreted during the non-REM phase. HGH (human growth hormone) is an anabolic agent that promotes muscle recovery and muscle growth among other things.
During your non-REM, your blood pressure drops and your breathing becomes deeper and slower. With your brain taking a much needed rest from your daily preoccupations, therefore more  blood is available to flow for your muscles.

Increased nutrient-rich blood (if you have a good diet plan) combined with high levels of growth hormone flow into your muscles, this will drastically improve your ability to gain muscle mass. A lot of people boast about how they don’t sleep much, I think that is dumb and a very bad habit.
Like I said, fitness is a lifestyle. Give the body what it needs, it will give you what you want.


RELIANCE ON DRUGS

 

If you spend more time reading about drugs that will help you build than working out, then there is a big problem. The biggest mistake skinny guys make is relying heavily on drugs. It is a great thing to build and look good either as a woman or man and having the desire to do so is a plus. But pimping your cabinet with all the latest magic drugs won’t help if you are not working out.

So if you want bigger quads or bigger trapezium, your magic drug doesn’t know this, it doesn’t know the shape and size you want. To achieve the desired shape and size you want, you have to work out. Heavy reliance on drugs is not a healthy thing to do, you might get results that may make things worse because drugs are unpredictable. do not empty your wallet on magic drugs, remember no drug will solely do it for you. Get a workout plan!

  

HIGH STRESS LEVEL

 


Stress is going to make building muscle really very difficult. When your body is in a highly stressed state, it keeps secreting a hormone known as cortisol throughout the body.
The job of cortisol is to break tissues down for energy (it comes from the ‘flight or fight’ response). If you’ve got cortisol flowing through your veins breaking down tissues, it is very hard to start building tissues up (which is the goal of muscle building).

If you’re a high stress person, you may want to do something to deal with that first. you can try Deep breathing, writing a journal, chasing your mother-in-law back to the village, breaking up with your worrisome boyfriend/girlfriend or relocating from Lagos (the traffic and noise level can kill) removing some of these stressors will be a good start.
